This week I had the pleasure of accompanying my daughter on her school class field trip to Mackinac Island (pronounced Mack-i-naw). We had an excellent time and I was really glad that I got to create this memory with my daughter.
I’m not sure if I just made up a new phrase here with Accidental Organic Optimization, but I can’t think of what else to call it.
Here’s the funny thing I noticed this week about my niche site IRA vs 401k Central.com:
So if you’re wondering why my regular Weekend post is going up so late, it’s because I was at … the “stealer”-ship yet again for MORE stupid car repairs!
Yes … again!
Even after draining our emergency fund for sudden car repairs, here we are again! You’re not going to believe this. Here’s what happened:
Sometimes when you have a hard week at work, the only thing you look forward to is getting home to spend a quiet evening with your spouse. Not going out or painting the town. Just curling up together with some wine and watching “This is 40” together … which was incredibly hilarious by the way.
Talk about kicking a guy while he’s down … Not only was it another stressful week with work, but we also got hit in the wallet with one of the worst kind of expenses: Car repairs. I’m not talking like you took the car in and they want $500. Try 4 digits! I’ll have a post to follow telling the whole story. I hate you car …
It’s been a while since I used the “Weekend Wind Down” title for my weekend posts, but unfortunately my jar of originality is running pretty low. I hate to be really dull, but this week was all work, work, work! I barely had any time to write new posts, research material, or comment on other blogs. But that’s the way it goes though, right? Whenever things get busy like that, it reminds me how important my financial efforts truly are.
Finally! Yet another improvement is complete and the house is painted. For pretty much this whole week the inside of our home looks like it went into foreclosure. All our stuff was off the walls, the curtains were down, holes were patched, and all our furniture was pushed into the center of each room. It was very cramped. But now it’s over and everything is slowly coming back together.
I really don’t mind paying someone else to paint our house because 1) painting sucks and 2) I’m not very good at it. For the right price, I’m finding out that some jobs are just better left in the hands of professionals who can get done what it would take me weeks to do (or possibly re-do).
Is everyone ready for for a happy Easter weekend? I’m thankful for the short work week, but we’re going to need every minute of it. There’s going to be all kinds of driving around and visiting with family. Easter is particularly tough this year because it is so close to our kids’ birthdays and they already got so much stuff already. But here it comes anyways, so bring on the candy!
Who else is tired of the Winter weather? If you live anywhere near me (east), then you’re probably also over all this snow and cold that just continues to dump on us every day. We were watching the news and they mentioned that at this time last year it was 70 degrees outside! Can you believe that? I don’t need it to be 70, but I would like it be just a little more spring-like.
This weekend we’ll be getting things ready for Easter and taking our daughter out for her birthday. I also plan to start reading my new book, The A to Z of Saving Money. This is a new ebook collaboration among several personal finance bloggers, and I’ve been looking forward to reading it for a while. If you’d like to enter a contest for your chance to win a copy plus $250, then follow the link at the bottom.
Where IS all the money at? Lately what’s been on my mind is all the whirlwind of activity within the personal finance blogging world. We’ve got 1) Google threatening more algorithm updates, 2) some big sites losing their PR, and 3) sites being sold off. With all of this hoopla, it makes me wonder if I need to rethink my online income system for making money off my blog.
Going forward, what IS the marketing plan for My Money Design?
