The world of retail is a tricky one to succeed in straight away. To do so, it takes more than a firm grasp of economics; usually, selling something that’s popular, innovative and one-of-a-kind is the way to get ahead, and a small but growing number of businesses selling offbeat products are showing how to grow in a climate where expansion isn’t always guaranteed.
The following are a handful of trending money making websites from the US and beyond who have managed to swim against the tide while seeing their profit margins increase rapidly. Some of them will be companies you heard of or maybe even used. Some of them may be new. No matter what the situation, make sure you check out their sites and see if its anything that would be a good fit for you to try.
Up and Coming Money Making Websites:
Face the Music:
Do you like to listen to music? For free? Then there are lots of great options to choose from.
Suppose you heard a cool song but can’t really seem to name it or recognize it? That’s when you can whip out your Smartphone and use Shazam. Shazam.com is a mobile phone based service where you use your phone to record a small sample of a song that is playing. That sample is then compared to a whole database of samples and it identifies the title and artist.
Maybe you have a certain artist you like and just want to hear a whole lot of songs that are similar to your favourite ones. Pandora Internet Radio has now become a standard staple among pre-installed apps on Smart-phones, Blu-Ray players, and Hi-Def TV’s. Their premise as one of the top money making websites is the fact that they play advertisements every 3 or 4 songs, or offer paid premium services if you want to skip the ads altogether.
Suppose you just want to hear specific songs? Spotify.com is another great music website where you can hear songs for free, browse new artists, and create your favourite playlists. They too also have a premium paid service if you’d like to avoid any advertisements.
Things Around the House:
Sure going green has become a trendy. But where do you really go if you’d like to find the equipment to collect and live off of solar power? Goal Zero is one of the fastest-growing green technology firms in the US largely because of what they sell. They specialise in solar-powered rechargeable units that help to generate electricity for appliances large and small. At a time when environmental concerns are high, Goal Zero’s product range seems in step with the times.
At the other end of the scale, HomeWetBar.com has managed to experience significant growth because they sell a range of fun yet quirky gifts for men. This is down to the fact that this market isn’t fully developed as of yet, while the need for gifts like golf-shaped barbecue tools is greater than first realised!
Didn’t you always want to be a super hero as a kid? Superfly Kids .com is another growing retailer in the US whose specialty is selling fun products. Primarily, they sell personalized superhero capes tailored for special occasions like birthdays and Halloween parties, but they also sell general fancy dress costumes. They sell costumes designed mainly for kids.
In keeping with that theme of pure fun, who wants some delicious popcorn? Doc Popcorn .com started life as a business run by a husband and wife team from their own home. Selling fresh popcorn, they have grown to such an extent that they now have outlets all over the US, some of them being near cinemas and leisure complexes where families tend to visit quite often.
Lumosity.com is another of the growing money making websites that is making a true difference. What they do is produce ‘brain training’ games aimed at smartphones and tablet PCs, both of which are being used for gaming as much as social media and general internet use. They also do research into cognitive development, something which is proving increasingly useful in this day and age.
