I always knew I’d come back to you. It’s been over a year now since we broke up, and things haven’t really been the same. I thought I had found someone better, and for a while, she was. Let’s face it – you got greedy! You thought you could have your cake and eat it too. I over-reacted to your arrogance, and with big Redbox ready and willing to take me in her arms, I thought it was time to switch up. Sometimes you’d email me and be all like “hey …, how’s it going?” I wanted to reply, but I knew I shouldn’t. Then you’d see me out with big Red(box) on a Saturday night. She was cheap, I know, but what else was I to do for satisfaction? It some time, but now I’m ready – ready to forgive if you are. We were right together, and I realize … [Read more...] about Netflix vs Redbox – I Always Knew We’d Get Back Together, Netflix

Weekend Wind Down 11/10/2012 – Will Star Wars 7 Suck?
While shopping for Christmas presents last weekend, I was reminded by just how much of an influence Star Wars still is on children. So the news that broke last week with Lucasfilm selling to Disney for $4.05 billion dollars and the immediate plans to proceed with a new Star Wars 7 movie comes as no surprise to me. I have said since the Episode 1-3 trilogy that NOT making Episodes 7-9 would be far too good to pass up. And apparently Disney thought so too! So now the big question: Do you think Star Wars 7 suck? Do you think they’ll stick to the versions that are already written, or go in a completely new direction? Many fans feel as though since Disney will keep George Lucas around as a creative consultant that the movies have a chance of … [Read more...] about Weekend Wind Down 11/10/2012 – Will Star Wars 7 Suck?
More Bad News for Netflix
Did you receive a weird email from “OnlineDVDclass”? If you did, it’s not some stranger trying to sell you unnecessary courses over the Internet. No, you’ve officially been invited to take part in a class-action lawsuit involving Netflix and Wal-Mart. This past fall, I ditched Netflix when they decided to double the cost of their subscription service (click here to read my post). Apparently, I wasn’t the only one. Thousands of other subscribers have left as well, and the stock is down 63% over the last 3 months. … [Read more...] about More Bad News for Netflix
Bank of America and the Slippery Slope of Banking Fees
It’s no surprise that Bank of America (BofA) started charging a $5 fee for using their debit card. After all, they must really be hurting for money after only receiving a $5 billion dollar investment last August from Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffet’s company! ... Right! Seriously, this event is just another data point along a long trend of obnoxious fees that rolls us further and further down the slippery slope of expenses that are eroding away our daily finances. Unfortunately, it’s not just the banks, but airlines, energy companies, cell phones, and many others. … [Read more...] about Bank of America and the Slippery Slope of Banking Fees
So Long Netflix
So long old friend. We had some good times, you and I. You were always so good to me, but now things have changed, and it’s time to say goodbye. It’s not you, it’s me! I just can’t pay close to $20 a month for movies anymore. And this new plan of splitting between DVD’s and streaming online. I love them both too much to choose between them. I don’t blame you for raising your prices. “The Man” (your streaming services) raised your costs big-time, and now you’re just passing it along to the little guy (me). But every product in the world has competition, and unfortunately there’s a lot of other places out there to catch DVD’s. … [Read more...] about So Long Netflix
