10. It inspired other countries not to put up with anyone else’s B.S.

9. The Revolutionary War gave us our fore-fathers. And our fore-fathers gave us something to put on our coins.

8. When you go to the big cook-out, you don’t need an excuse to enjoy a big fat Bratwurst!

7. Fireworks!!

6. Old Glory (the American Flag) really gets her 15 minutes of fame on every possible product out there.

5. It’s a free day off of work during the Summer. Who doesn’t want that?

4. We (the Americans) won our independence from British rule. And thankfully we did it before they worked on our road systems! Good God – How does this intersection work?

3. Hey kids! We’ve told you time and time again NEVER to play with fire!! But just for tonight, it’s okay to handle this 1,800 degree Fahrenheit metal stick and wave it around near your sister.

2. It’s like the Summer-time version of St. Patrick’s Day! You don’t buy any presents for anyone; you just get together and have a few drinks!

1. Did I mention fireworks?!

Happy Fourth of July everyone!

Happy 4th of July! Good day to celebrate. I do have to disagree with #10 and #4 though. I’m pretty sure that other countries weren’t motivated by the US at all when they rebel against their government. And roundabouts are a much more efficient system that eliminates a lot of idling & pollution. Anyways, enjoy the holiday and all the fireworks 🙂

Ha – didn’t my ridiculous picture of the fore-fathers give it away that this was a joke post?

Happy 4th to you as well. We’ll be walking down to the beach probably to see what fireworks we can see from near our house. There is a potential for three shows we’ll be able to see I think. Should be neat!

Thanks Lance! Some people in our neighborhood have been blowing off huge fireworks like mad! So we’re anticipating a pretty big show tonight as well! Happy 4th!

I love #3. I joked to my wife that I was going to buy some sparklers for our little boy, and my wife gave me a rather threatening look (our little boy is only a year and a half old). It always amazes me how many burn injuries occur every year. You’d think people would learn but they don’t. Though I fully admit to participating in my fair share of bottle rocket fights when I was younger.

Me too! Remember M-80’s? Black Cats? Why were allowed to play with this stuff as kids? My wife was also not very excited when I let the kids have Sparklers. There’s a lot of truth to #3 🙂

I really did not enjoy those things when I was in England. Everytime I’d go around one, I’d think of that scene from the National Lampoon’s European Vacation where they get stuck in one for several hours ….

That fo’ fathers picture is seriously awesome, my friend!!

Good stuff.. We spent the fourth watching our hooisetastic neighbors blow up about 5 grand worth of fireworks.. It was slightly scary, but we were able to walk home afterwards and bring a cooler full of drinks. Not a bad way to spend a hot evening..

    Happy Birthday America..
