Stop reading this.  In fact don’t read anything else.  Reading these blog posts won’t give you financial motivation.  You know what will?  Going outside. The Simple Things Will Provide True Financial Motivation: Today is going to be a beautiful day outside.  The sun will be out, the temperature will be right, and there will be a beautiful stillness just over the trees in the distance. Just for a little while forget about your problems, forget about work, and forget about making more money.  Dwelling on those things isn’t what’s going to motivate you.  Dwell on them for too long and they will simply control you. Instead, go outside and connect with the rest of the world.  Laugh and have some fun.  Take your kids to the park, go for a … [Read more...] about Want Some Financial Motivation? We spend an awful lot of time on My Money Design talking about not only how to successfully plan for retirement, but even some strategies for how to get there as early as possible.  Why?  Because I think that financial freedom and the ability for you to choose what you do with your time are some of the most gratifying things you can accomplish in your lifetime. The big question then is: What is it that I want to do with all this time once I finally have it?  - That’s a very good question, and not one to take lightly.  Having some post retirement ideas and goals for what you’ll do with yourself is just as important as the planning it took to get you there. … [Read more...] about My Post Retirement Ideas for When I Become Financially Free

What a weekend this will be!  First of all, congratulations to my wife for putting up with me for 11 years. Today is our anniversary!  I’m very humbled to say that everything I wrote about our love for each other in last year’s 10 year wedding anniversary tribute post is still just as fresh as ever.  Unfortunately timing was bad this weekend.  So we celebrated last weekend with a date night last, and will be taking a short weekend trip coming up soon in July. … [Read more...] about Happy Wedding Anniversary, Father’s Day, and Favorite Posts

Women everywhere be prepared to take one step backwards from 100 years of progress against gender inequality in the workplace.  In a very sad display of male chauvinism, CNN Money recently ran an article about investor Paul Tudor Jones.  What was the story about?  His candid statement that: “… you will never see as many great women traders as men”. … [Read more...] about Is There Still Gender Inequality in the Workplace? School’s Out for Summer Break!

I think my obsession with early retirement must have started at an early age when I couldn’t wait for Summer break.  I can’t believe that May is already over and it was my children’s last day of school yesterday (and the last day of work for my teacher wife!)  So now my whole house (minus me) will be able to sleep in, relax all day, play in the sun, and repeat each day for the next three months. … [Read more...] about School’s Out for Summer Break!

It’s finally really nice outside.  And when it’s nice outside, that can mean only one thing: It’s time to BE outside and enjoy it!  That’s where my head has been at lately.  I’m very fond of the Spring and Summer time because it means not being cooped up inside the house all day.  I’m looking forward to going to some outside events, making the yard look beautiful, and spending some much needed quality time with the family. While those are all certainly great life aspects to celebrate, I’m afraid that limits the amount of time I have to be a productive blogger.  But who wants to have their nose stuck to a computer screen anyways when there are things going on? For the past few months I may have burned myself out trying to pump out … [Read more...] about Blogger Fatigue and Favorite Posts

I’m not sure if I just made up a new phrase here with Accidental Organic Optimization, but I can’t think of what else to call it. Here’s the funny thing I noticed this week about my niche site IRA vs 401k Central.com: … [Read more...] about Accidental Organic Optimization for My Money Niche Site
