Blog News:
I apologize for missing my Weekend Wind Down last week. Between being offsite for work and my SB1040 post series marathon, I was honestly a little (read: A LOT) burnt out and needed a break.
But now I’m back, and the show must go on! So on Monday, I’ll show you why this blog is called My Money Design by giving you an update of my “Money Design”. It’s a draft of my master plan for reaching financial freedom. It is an ever-evolving plan, so I’ll be interested to hear what people think of it.
Later in the week, I’m debating on which post to publish – so YOU tell me which one you’d rather read: Would you like some good scary movie recommendations for some cheap Halloween thrills? Or would you like to learn about saving some money on medical and daycare bills using a Flexible Spending Account (FSA)?
Link Love – Blogs You Should Check Out:
In case you missed them, here are a few great stories you should check out this weekend:
- Lauren from L Bee and the Money Tree really knew how to start off the week right. She posted a very interesting story called On Money and Sex, and it had some pretty insightful findings. Apparently being richer does make things better (or so the story goes) ….
- Veronica from Pelican on Money put together a well-crafted post of responses from dozens of PF bloggers (myself included) called 34 Money Tips from Top Personal Finance Bloggers.
- I also got an honorable mention from Kim at Eyes on the Dollar in her post A Valedictorian’s Advice On How to Raise a Scholarship Kid.
- Want to watch a pretty funny video? Check out Mo Money Mo Houses post Amazing Mind Reader Reveals His Gift and People Are Idiots with Their Personal Information.
- John from Married with Debt posted AT&T Upgrade Fee Is a Poke in the Eye. I’m with you buddy – I’ve had it up to hear with cell phone plans ….
- And last but not least, my new friend (and fellow Michigander) Rich from Money Wise Pastor posted a very inspirational piece entitled What Do You Want Out of Life?
Carnivals:
MyMoneyDesign was featured in the following personal finance carnivals this week:
• NONE! I was a loser and didn’t make time to contribute this week. Queue the loser music (hit play) …

I LOVE LEGO! You will have to take lots of photos so I can relive my childhood.
Im excited to hear about your master plan, i’ll be sure to check back next week to read all about it.
Thanks Glen! The Lego exhibit was outstanding! I hope you’ll find my plan on Monday very interesting.
I say save the scary Halloween movies for closer to Halloween personally 🙂
That’s 0 for Scary Movies and 1 for FSA.
Wow that looks like an awesome event! Have a great weekend!
Legos are awesome! I’ve been waiting for my nephew to reach five just so I can build with him.
I hope you have a budget set aside for any new sets. Those things are so expensive it’s crazy.
Have fun.
I’ve always thought Legos were really expensive. But have you seen their new collectible sets? They have a Star Wars Death Star for $1200! That’s so ridiculous!
Thanks T! It was in Novi, and we had a ton of fun!
Thanks for including our post in the roundup! The lego fest seems kind of fun, even for adults 🙂 I know I’d have fun most likely.
It was so unreal – so much fun! The kids had a great time, and so did I!
Thanks for the mention. Legos are amazing. Let’s have the scary Halloween post this week.
Uh, oh. That’s 1 for FSA and 1 for Scary Movies. Looks like I’ll have to decide.
The lego exhibit must have been cool. I vote for Scary Halloween movie post. You can do one this week and another closer to oct 31, a change of content is good sometimes.
Uh, oh. That’s 2 for scary movie post. I might have to change up my post order last minute! Thanks for the vote!
I can tell you that Lego expo was absolutely amazing. Just outstanding. If they had had something like that when I was a kid, it would have been better than Christmas.
Hope LegoFest was amazing! Saw your tweet about the pool of those little blocks…sounds like such fun times.
Thanks! I should have included the picture I took to go along with that tweet. That exhibit was unreal. My son and daughter could not get enough. I couldn’t get enough! My son is already trying to figure out how he can grow up to work for Lego!
That looks like a blast, I hope you will take pictures, I have always wanted to go to one of those just to see what it was like.
Just imagine more Lego bricks that is humanly possible! They had a lot of really cool hands-on exhibits and challenges setup. It was very very busy and full of excited kids (and adults)!
