What a weekend this will be! First of all, congratulations to my wife for putting up with me for 11 years. Today is our anniversary! I’m very humbled to say that everything I wrote about our love for each other in last year’s 10 year wedding anniversary tribute post is still just as fresh as ever. Unfortunately timing was bad this weekend. So we celebrated last weekend with a date night last, and will be taking a short weekend trip coming up soon in July. … [Read more...] about Happy Wedding Anniversary, Father’s Day, and Favorite Posts
Weekend Wind Down
I think my obsession with early retirement must have started at an early age when I couldn’t wait for Summer break. I can’t believe that May is already over and it was my children’s last day of school yesterday (and the last day of work for my teacher wife!) So now my whole house (minus me) will be able to sleep in, relax all day, play in the sun, and repeat each day for the next three months. … [Read more...] about School’s Out for Summer Break!
It’s finally really nice outside. And when it’s nice outside, that can mean only one thing: It’s time to BE outside and enjoy it! That’s where my head has been at lately. I’m very fond of the Spring and Summer time because it means not being cooped up inside the house all day. I’m looking forward to going to some outside events, making the yard look beautiful, and spending some much needed quality time with the family. While those are all certainly great life aspects to celebrate, I’m afraid that limits the amount of time I have to be a productive blogger. But who wants to have their … [Read more...] about Blogger Fatigue and Favorite Posts
This week I had the pleasure of accompanying my daughter on her school class field trip to Mackinac Island (pronounced Mack-i-naw). We had an excellent time and I was really glad that I got to create this memory with my daughter. … [Read more...] about Checking Out Real Estate on Mackinac Island
I’m not sure if I just made up a new phrase here with Accidental Organic Optimization, but I can’t think of what else to call it. Here’s the funny thing I noticed this week about my niche site IRA vs 401k Central.com: … [Read more...] about Accidental Organic Optimization for My Money Niche Site
So if you’re wondering why my regular Weekend post is going up so late, it’s because I was at … the “stealer”-ship yet again for MORE stupid car repairs! Yes ... again! Even after draining our emergency fund for sudden car repairs, here we are again! You’re not going to believe this. Here’s what happened: … [Read more...] about MORE Stupid Car Repairs – I Can’t Make This Stuff Up!
Sometimes when you have a hard week at work, the only thing you look forward to is getting home to spend a quiet evening with your spouse. Not going out or painting the town. Just curling up together with some wine and watching “This is 40” together … which was incredibly hilarious by the way. … [Read more...] about Movie Time, Car Story Conclusion, and Favorite Posts
Talk about kicking a guy while he’s down … Not only was it another stressful week with work, but we also got hit in the wallet with one of the worst kind of expenses: Car repairs. I’m not talking like you took the car in and they want $500. Try 4 digits! I’ll have a post to follow telling the whole story. I hate you car ... … [Read more...] about Stupid Car Repairs
It’s been a while since I used the “Weekend Wind Down” title for my weekend posts, but unfortunately my jar of originality is running pretty low. I hate to be really dull, but this week was all work, work, work! I barely had any time to write new posts, research material, or comment on other blogs. But that’s the way it goes though, right? Whenever things get busy like that, it reminds me how important my financial efforts truly are. … [Read more...] about Weekend Wind Down 4-13-2013
Finally! Yet another improvement is complete and the house is painted. For pretty much this whole week the inside of our home looks like it went into foreclosure. All our stuff was off the walls, the curtains were down, holes were patched, and all our furniture was pushed into the center of each room. It was very cramped. But now it’s over and everything is slowly coming back together. I really don’t mind paying someone else to paint our house because 1) painting sucks and 2) I’m not very good at it. For the right price, I’m finding out that some jobs are just better left in the … [Read more...] about The House is Painted – Plus Blog Updates
