Batman and Money – The Connection and What We Can Learn From It

Go to the theater and the message is clear: Everyone LOVES super hero movies! Disney is practically printing money using the success of the Marvel studio franchises.  Since Iron Man, they’ve made over $10 billion dollars!  And Warner Bros is no fool either.  They hope to capture some of that market share with their upcoming line-up of DC-based comic book action movies. So, what exactly is the draw to these movies?  Why are they so irresistible?  And what makes us have to rush out on opening day with the whole family to spend +$50 and be the first to see them?   I’m Batman! When I was a kid, my favorite super-hero, by far, was Batman. I was right about at that tender age of 9 when the Tim Burton mega-hit was released back … [Read more...] about Batman and Money – The Connection and What We Can Learn From It

Online Income and Taxes

One of the funny side effects of being a blogger and making an online income is that your tax situation can become a lot more complicated. Don’t get me wrong … the extra money is great!  But if you’re accustomed to the simple process of doing your taxes on your own, things are about to change! Not only will you have some fun, new IRS forms and worksheets to fill out, you’ll also have some new taxes you owe or - worse – penalties to pay!  But on the bright side there will also be some new, pretty good opportunities for you to dodge some of those taxes and save even more for retirement than you were before. I know it's not just me that has had some questions about how exactly you’re suppose to handle your online income when it comes … [Read more...] about Online Income and Taxes – How to Be Prepared

Does the 3% Signal Investment Strategy Really Work?

Recently I just finished the book “The 3% Signal” by Jason Kelly.  As you can read in my book review here, the premise of The 3% Signal is to offer the common man a “simple” strategy for investing that (in theory) has the potential to beat traditional index fund investing! More so, even though I recognize and believe in the power of … [Read more...] about Does the 3% Signal Investment Strategy Really Work?

It’s not very often anymore that I go inside a book store and see a physical copy of a book that catches my attention.  But when you publish a book that suggests a strategy that will beat an index fund, you’ve certainly caught my attention! That was the appeal behind the latest book I’ve been reading called “The 3% Signal” by Jason Kelly. In case you’re not familiar with this author, Jason Kelly is a very well-known financial writer who created the “Neatest Little Guide to …” series on investing.  “The Neatest Little Guide to Stock Market Investing” was one of the first personal finance books I ever read, and to this day I still hold it in high regard whenever anyone asks for a good-book recommendation. In this latest release, The … [Read more...] about “The 3% Signal” by Jason Kelly – A Book Review
