I absolutely love scary movies! Especially around Halloween time. And I wish I had some good recommendations of recent movies for you to rent, but I don’t. Redbox has really been letting me down lately. Here’s a few terrible scary movies for you to avoid:
• I remembered Silent House
from the previews when it first came out, and I was looking forward to this one. At first when the movie started, it had a lot of potential. But then it just got kind of weird, a little boring, and worst of all – not very scary.
• Next I tried to sort the Redbox movies by reviews and go with the highest rated one. A B-movie by some independent company called the The Haunting of Whaley House
was up there, so I decided to give it that one a shot. I should have turned it off at the previews. The company that had made this movie also released such other great titles as “Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies” (clearly a rip-off of “Abraham Lincoln – Vampire Hunter”), “Nazis at the Center of the Earth”, and – the best – “Bikini Spring Break”. Do I even need to tell you how the movie went …?
• Next I looked for something that would be a sure thing – Piranha 3DD
. Yes, this was the sequel to the outrageously gory and over the top original Piranha
movie. Unfortunately, this version was not nearly as creative as its predecessor. Like many other sequels, they sacrificed content to simply attempt to recreate the highlights of the first movie. The only redeeming quality of the movie was a fantastic cameo by David Hasselhoff, who plays a washed up actor who’s hit rock bottom – basically himself!
Someone, please save me! Does anyone have any decent, recent scary movie recommendations?

Monday we’ll be starting things off nerdy – We’ll be looking at a diagram of my cash flow and the things it goes to. I feel like once you’ve got your budget under control, the next step is to look at how you manage your cash flow to really analyze if your money is going towards the right goals or not. For example – is your job the only thing bringing in cash? Should you be using it to pay down your debts, or could you be using a portion of your money to invest in something that is going to put money in your pocket every month?
Although I finished this book some time ago and have already done a few posts on some of the tips, I owe “The Smartest Retirement Book You’ll Ever Read” by Daniel R. Solin a complete review. This is a great book for newbies and intermediate investors alike! This review will be chucked full of tips.

- When I wrote my post about my kids this week, I didn’t know that so many other people were going to have some great posts about their own kids. My first find was Justin’s post about his son in When Did Our Little Baby Turn Into Such a Big Boy? on The Family Finances.
- Kim from Eyes on the Dollar also had a cute story about her daughter from Life and Financial Lessons from a Five Year Old
- The kids weren’t the only ones making accomplishments. I’m a big sucker for people publishing their net worth updates, which is why you should check out Jason’s post Our Journey Update – Net Worth, Debt, and Savings on Work Save Live.
- A whole bunch of posts were published a few weeks back about life insurance. But none of them were Shilpan’s. I love this post because he uses some reverse psychology to teach us why any life insurance policy other than Term is a bad idea. Read Term Insurance: Best Life Insurance for Smart People. My favorite part about this post is that I had this same exact conversation with my insurance agent!
- Finally, there were a lot of good posts about FinCon12, but none of them made me FEEL like I was there as much as Carrie’s post from Careful Cents – it had tons of pictures! Read FinCon12: How One Conference Can Change Your Life.

Well I’m a big fan of the classic (what I watched growing up) horror films. The Exorcist (still the scariest), Halloween, Poltergeist scared the crap out of me (but I was 12), The Shining, and one of the scariest movies I’ve seen in the last couple of years was The Grudge. I couldn’t watch it alone.
That is one fine line up of scary movies! I’ve also got to add the extremely creepy The Ring, the first Saw movie, Donnie Darko, and both of Rob Zombie’s first movies House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects.
I like suspense movie as it makes you think. I’ve not seen original Piranha, so I will definitely watch that.

Don’t watch Piranha unless you’ve got a strong stomach! The movie is just a train wreck of the most disgusting death scenes ever put together; worse than Saw.
When I was a kid, we loved all the old Japanese movies like Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, etc. They are REALLY bad, but quite enjoyable.

A lot of people do start those kind of blogs, and they are really interesting to look at. That would be a really cool and modern way to chronicle your son’s early life. Could you imagine if you had grown up and found most of your life documented beyond just photographs in a scrap book? I think that would be really neat.

I could almost write a whole blog about the stuff my daughter does, good and bad. I liked the original Final Destination movies. i think they are up to about number 12 or so now, so there’s probably a recent one. Thanks for the mention.

I watched up to Final Destination 4 and then quit. I don’t even know why they bother with those movies anymore … The first one was pretty good!

You’re welcome! To each his own on the scary movies. But in case you’re wondering, you are missing out! These movies were terrible, but there have been some pretty incredible ones. Does this mean no Paranormal Activity 1, 2, or 3? SAW 1-7?
